Baptism Day! 9.11.11

Yesterday our little family celebrated. We celebrated our last child making a public profession of faith. That Jesus Christ is her Saviour and she wishes to live a life that will glorify Him.  Yesterday Lydia Ruth was baptized! She had been asking since earlier this year, yet, I wasn't quite sure she understood the magnitude of this decision. As I searched her little heart over the last few months it became apparent to my husband and myself that yes, she indeed did understand and was ready. Young hearts are so open to the gospel, childlike faith the Bible calls us to have.

While homage was being paid all over our precious country to those affected and devastated by the attacks on September 11th, ten years ago, our family was able to focus on a positive. One more soul that wants to stand for the Lord!  I remember vividly what I was doing as the towers were attacked. I remember watching TV as the second plane hit and the fire and chaos that ensued. I will never forget the emotions of that day. Disbelief.  So much hatred, so much, all targeted at America.  As I prayed for the souls suffering that day I also prayed for those that executed the attack and were killed. I thought of them meeting God and the judgement they were receiving, and I shook and sobbed. Still do.

While we will never forget September 11th, our family has a reason to rejoice on this date. Lydia Ruth was baptized and made her public profession of faith on September 11, 2011. And that is one more soldier for the Lord. Amen!

Pastor Walt had to put a chair in the baptism tub so everyone could see Lydia, she is a peanut.  She was just so excited to be baptized!  It was glorious to hear her answer "yes", when Pastor asked her if she had accepted the Lord as her personal Saviour!

Being immersed, just as our Lord once was.

After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him. Mathew 3:16 (NLT)

At this time John the Baptist was baptizing at Aenon, near Salim, because there was plenty of water there; and people kept coming to him for baptism. John 3:23 (NLT)

And that water is a picture of baptism, which now saves you, not by removing dirt from your body, but as a response to God from a clean conscience. It is effective because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I Peter 3:23 (NLT)

Wishing all who stop by peace in their day!

  9. How lovely Suzanne...thought of your family that day. I have a reason to remember it now in a positive way too! My youngest daughter got engaged on Sunday. I haven't blogged about it or shared with too many via the internet yet as she wants to tell family members first. I will tomorrow.
God does grant us such happy times even when we "live in the world".
    Many blessing on your family.
    Love, Linda

  12. Hallelujah! What a wonderful way to spend 9/11, God's kingdom is increasing one person/child at a time.

  13. Dear Suzanne,

I am so excited for your family; what a beautiful thing to commemorate! I, too, will never forget when the World Trade Center was attacked, and pity those who did the attacking more than those who were attacked. I would not want to be in their shoes!

    Many blessings to you,

    Marqueta

  15. Interesting to see this. As a Catholic we tend to do infant Baptism with water poured over the back of the head.
I am happy to trade the visions I have of the twin towers falling for the little girls who said yes to her spiritual future on this date.
