This is what is currrently on the needles. I have gotten another cowel done in the burnt orange--lovely color, and one more in the slate blue is started for my eldest daughter. She has very unusual blue eyes and this combination is going to look fantastic against those and her pale skin. Lydia's Tiny Tea Leaves Cardi is still in progress and I ordered the most stunning buttons for this. Total vintage feel. Then there is my grandson's little elfish hat. That is getting the most attention as that has to be wrapped for that cute little bugger for Christmas! Reading with the girls Warm as Wool and for my adult reading I am rereading a book every couple should read, Becoming Heirs Together to the Grace of Life by Jeff and Marge Barth. They heavily influenced our child-rearing and marital perspective early on. Their children are all grown now with quite large families of their own. They reside in VT and I highly recommend all their materials. My son loved Mr. Barth's simple story tapes of simpler times on a farm--all wholesome stories with good character training and wonderful examples of family life the way God planned it. Now Lydia listens to them.
On another note, I was in a large store yesterday and the commercialism of the holiday hit me. I was so sad leaving. People complaining about their children and all they wanted, the stress of shopping and hostessing families. It was downright depressing! If only we could all focus on Jesus' birth and make things--yes, make things, the world at this time of year would be a much happier place. I think, anyway:-)
