If you have been reading here awhile you know I am a great admirer of childrens celebrated author/illustrator Tasha Tudor. On August 28th 2012 Tasha would have been 97 years old, had she lived. She has been gone for four years now, but still lives in the hearts and minds of those who loved and admired her.
The lovely Clarice from StoryBook Woods and I, have hosted a Tasha Tudor Day for a few years now. Would you like to join us? All you need to do is leave a comment on either her blog or mine telling us how you celebrated Tasha Tudor Day 2012. Here at Blueberry Cottage there will be a giveaway of Tasha Tudor books for one fortunate winner.
Should you be new to the world of Tasha Tudor a little digging around the internet will fill you in quite nicely. Thank you for reminding the world of one of the most charming and talented childrens illustrators ever. I celebrated Tasha Tudor by visiting The Depot,in Duluth, Minnesota on our way to our cottage. The Depot, has her works on display depicting her many talents from book and card illustration, decorated Easter eggs, valentines, doll size mail from Mr. Wren, advent calendars etc. If you are lucky enough to be in the area stop by it is a free show. I am still humming with inspiration from seeing Ms. Tudors work up close. The scale in which she worked will blow your mind, so tiny and the brush strokes so perfect... heavenly to enter her private world for an hour. Check out the Tasha Tudor website which posts where her show is to travel.

Tasha Tudor Day! I have been anxiously awaiting that day...especially since we have added goats to our menagerie.
ReplyDeletesuch a remarkable and talented woman, I have several of her books and the pages fall open easily from such frequent turning,
ReplyDeleteJust found one of her books at the thrift shop for 50 cents! Another addition to the collection! (It was $1 but was marked half-price!)
ReplyDeleteI do much of what you have on your list on a daily basis but my FAVORITE is to pet my corgi!
I have admired Tasha Tudor for years! I love her charming artwork and I admired the way she embraced life to the fullest! I will celebrate the day by sipping some tea, starting a knitted shawl with some lovely wool yarn, and look through Tasha's book The Lord Is My Shepherd! (which I rescued from my local library's discard bin)
ReplyDeleteTasha Tudor day is special because it is also my daughters birthday. We will celebrate by sipping tea and eating some delicious recipe from one of her books. I love her artwork in her children's books. She was a very special lady and a blessing to so many.
ReplyDeleteHi Suzanne! Happy Tasha Tudor Day! I'm celebrating this special day on my blog today. Please stop in and Take JOY!
