Each Friday here on Blueberry Cottage I will post my frugal feats of the week. I am hoping to encourage myself this way and spur myself on. Would you like to join me? If so, leave your list of frugal feats for all to see in the comments, or if you wrote a blog post about it leave your link. We can all learn from each other this way! There are quite a few blogs who do a weekly link up, such as, The Shabby Nest and The Prudent Homemaker. If you know of any others let us all know in the comments.
A WEEK OF FRUGAL FEATS:
- Line dried all the laundry
- Used more produce from the garden to make lunches and sides for dinners as well as a couple of main meals
- Turned off our upright freezer as we are eating a whole lot less meat and don't need it. Electricity savings hopefully next month
- Enjoyed Martha Stewart, Better Homes & Gardens and Family Fun subscriptions all FREE from taking surveys online
- Turned off air conditioners during the day and only used them at bedtime on humid nights.
- Bought two pair of sneakers for children with a BOGO 1/2 off sale +$10 off coupon +20% off coupon. Got sneakers that would have cost $135.00 for $72.00. *I never buy cheap or used shoes--pet peeve of mine:-)
- Made my own laundry detergent and fabric softener
- Made a sweet necklace for a friends birthday and sold one to my Mother at cost for her hairdresser's birthday
- Spent half of my usual grocery allowance so I can use up all the freezer items
- Helped cut and stack wood from felled trees on our property--this year no cost for wood. Saved over $400.00!
- Used flowers from the garden beds to decorate an outdoor farm table for a ladies luncheon. Used all plates, linens on hand and everyone brought a dish to share.
{this image gave me the inspiration to decorate my own table for a gathering}
Left my camera at my Mums so no photos AND it was over when I realized I could have used Instagram on my iPhone! Boo hooooo....
Have a wonderful weekend and see you back here on Monday!
