a first birthday!

My youngest grandson, so far, turned 1 this weekend. First birthday's are always so much fun! It's also the first taste of chocolate cake, ice cream, being tossed around to people you may not even know. Ahhh...the first birthday is just so symbolic of all thiat is to come, Lord willing.

Me (Nonnie) and Aaron. I am just a bit tickled inside because whenever he sees me his smile is a mile wide and he does this happy dance. Yes, the other grandma's don't get that kind of welcome! And he has two grandma's and two great-grandma's--but he has eyes for only me, hah!

This is Poppa, or Papou in Greek. I am not sure of the spelling. My husband suggested I be called Ya-Ya, which is Greek for grandma, but my Italian/French sensibilities won out! I couldn't be Memere as his other grandma is Mem. And I don't know, Meme just sounds old, ya know?

He didn't know quite what to make of the cake. All that sweet, chocolately goodness. But he soon dove right in! By the fistfuls he was shoveling it in...hahahaha.

Children really are a blessing from above and grandchildren are the frosting on the cake.  You can love 'em, cuddle 'em , and spoil them a bit. Yet, at the end of the day they belong to someone else and your off the hook! You can just have some awesome fun with grandkids.

Thanks for all the comments on the social media. I guess I feel like *I could get sucked in * and just keep fighting it off. So, blogging,  I am just back to writing a post when I can. I have cut down my blog list. Just those that really resonate with me and I loooove. All the decorating ones...bye...bye and a bit of boo hooo. And let me say, if you don't loooove your time here, cut me out of your time slot, stick with what ministers to you. No tweets really, Pinning maybe here and there--like for holiday inspiration or decorating ideas. No FB except my personal one, which I only check a couple times a day. I decided to *hide* those friends I really don't need to read about all the time. Hey, if they need to contact me they can message me, right? With a husband, five children, four grandchildren, three dogs and a food ministry at church I run, my plate is full.

There is just not time for all the social media and a family life that counts.  If someone tells you that you can hook yourself up to it all and run a home, be a godly wife, minister and disciple your children ...RUN!

 Ain't true. "Nuff said.

Thanks for stopping by Blueberry Cottage and saying hello. I hope you found your time here an encouragement and blessing. I read all my comments and answer your questions right within.

I really detest word verification, but I had to enable it. The spam was overwhelming! Sorry if this deters you from commenting, but it was necessary.

Have a blessed day!
