winter fun

What would a winter in New England be without a bit of sledding and snow play? This winter hasn't proved particularly challenging in regards to snowfall, so far, but we have had a few little storms here and there. Just enough to make for some good sledding and corgi play. Fortunately, for us, we have a farm a town over that devotes a hill to sledding, skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling. Quite generously they allow anyone to use the hill and to boot, on the weekends they have an open fire to get yourself sufficiently thawed out before you tackle the hill again. Of course, this mum sits contentedly and knits in the comfort of her truck, after snapping pictures and capturing those thrilling moments when kids are racing down the hill, sleds spinning out of control ---shrieks of laughter heard all the way from the top of the hill to the very bottom. I love hearing their belly laughter!

I must say an afternoon of climbing and sledding makes for wonderfully sleepy children that evening. And hot cocoa and cookies never tasted more delicious than after a full afternoon of snow play.

  1. Hi Dear Suzanne! Oh how fun...you guys are so lucky to get snow. We get so little here in Oregon any more. It's just been raining and raining the last few days. It just gets to be depressing but it keeps us green and beautiful. Vit D is a must for so many of us out here.
Thanks for the mention of me in your full moon blog! I do love doing the moon reports.
I got your sweet card in the mail. Hope you guys are well now and stay well.

  3. I enjoyed your photographs. They look like the cover of greeting cards and remind me of our years in Maine.

I really detest word verification, but I had to enable it. The spam was overwhelming! Sorry if this deters you from commenting, but it was necessary.

Have a blessed day!
