I always love to hear from you! My prayer is that anyone who stops by to read my words will leave blessed and encouraged. Should you wish to contact me via email please do so at : Taketimefortea@comcast.net.
Just give me a day or so to answer. Life can be busy at times and the computer is not a top priority at this season of life.
Blessings,
Suzanne
I loved your post about your aspie and how she loves red! My son is 11 and he also loves red. I had know idea that is was calming to him. Have you ever heard of Relationship Development Intervention. I am going to start it with my son. You hire a RDI consultant to train you and your husband. They teach you how to make a calming and less stimulating room to do therapy with him or her. It is about going back to the very beginning when babies receive hundreds of minutes of learned social skills. You stop using words and let the child rediscover on their own. My consultant used it on two of her aspies and it worked. It is less negative than social skills. My son always felt badly about himself because he was aware that someone telling him what to say and do meant he didn't know how which made him feel badly about himself. Autistic and Asberger's children do not have the brain connections that a typical child has. As a result, they missed their dynamic Intelligence. They think statically. That is why they are typically so good with facts and less able to experience share. RDI is amazing. Dr. Gustein created it. I think it is a good way to collaborate with Waldorf education as well.
ReplyDeleteHello Kris,
DeleteI have never heard of that, will check into it. My daughter is 13 now, I wonder if something like that works only on younger children? Navigating the social stuff has been a real challenge--especially as a teen. I probably should post a bit more about it, but she really likes her privacy:-) Thanks for stopping by!
Blessings,
Suzanne
I am new on Etsy, haven't even taken pictures of my items yet:) I couldn't find where to comment on the necklaces I recently purchased from you. I just love them! They are really special. I just ordered your little gnome kit, also. Thank you so much. Hope your day is full of blessings!
ReplyDeleteDear Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog very very much. You might say it changed my life! Regarding your blog today about being overwhelmed by social media: You might want to go back and read your blog "Deliberately Slowing Down" from 12/16/09. I loved that blog, especially the part that read "pair down to what is manageable for your situation".
Have a blessed day.
Dear Anonymous--I wish I knew your name:-) Thanks so much for the reminder of that post. I just feel so sucked in by all the media. I don't actively participate in it all, but just feel so overwhelmed some days that it is even there. I am going to reprioritize as even the amount I spend on the media is just too much I feel. A post coming soon on that.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words, they are a balm to my soul:-)
Blessings,
Suzanne
